THE ISA & ARVA SHOW PRESENTS THIS CHAMPIONSHIP
RULES & CONDITIONS
1. Display three pots of preserves from each section below. Pots used to be no bigger than 454 g (1 lb), all the same size at max. Space allowed: 22 cm x 22 cm.
Soft Fruits, Stone Fruits & Marmalade
2. Points will be awarded for taste, appearance, sealing, setting & presentation
3. Lids only to be used.
4. All three pots to be labelled
5. No biscuits or scones to be displayed with the exhibit.
6. A simple presentation is only required.
7. The competition is confined to amateurs.
8. Two exhibits will qualify from each show.
9. The exhibits must be home-produced by the exhibitor.
10. In the event of a signed & written objection and following an investigation, if the exhibitor is deemed to be making a living from their profession, they may be disqualified.
11. A special class will be held at each qualifying show.
12. All preserves will be sampled.
13. The judge’s decision at all stages of the competition is final
14. Exhibits are displayed at the owner's risk.
15. For the final fresh pots of preserves must be entered.
16. An exhibitor can only qualify one exhibit for the All-Ireland final. These rules are to be read in conjunction with ISA rules.
Prizes: 1st – €200, 2nd – €150, 3rd – €100, 4th – €50, 5th – €25, 6th – €25, 7th – €25, 8th – €25 QUALIFYING SHOWS: Adamstown, Athenry, Ballyfoyle, Ballymoney, Castlewellan, Corrandulla, Dungarvan, Enniscrone, Ennistymon, Flavours of Fingal, Gorey, Lurgan, Limavady, Midleton, Mullingar, Omagh, Saintfield FINAL: ARVA SHOW Sun 26th July 2026
**All entries are to be submitted on www.oldcastleshow.ie.**
All exhibitors must pay at the gate.
First-prize winners from Classes 77-95 (excluding Class 93) will compete for the Betty Porter Perpetual Cup, which will be awarded by the judge.
1st Prize: €15, 2nd Prize: €10; 3rd Prize: €5
Please note: do not overfill pots. Please ensure each pot has a good heat seal with a jam-pot cover. Please do not use plastic or metal lids.
